Free Food

Italiano 2

I cried on the way home from work today. I know I'm being melodramatic but I am suffocating with misery. In my head I know I should be grateful for my job but somehow the message doesn't quite make it to my heart.

Anyway, moving on. This week was actually pretty good. Well, I made a financial error on Monday and ended up spending a whole lot more money shipping something to my uncle than I should have. I am a real world n00b. It's embarrassing.

But on Tuesday I got treated to lunch! Jonas treated Jeanine and me to lunch at Toast. I love that place. I got the Italiano with sweet potato fries. And then we got the banana pudding to go because I absolutely love their banana pudding with vanilla wafers. SO GOOD. I watched Duplicity that night and even low expectations could not save that movie. On Wednesday I treated myself to free cereal at work! Yay for free cereal. And today Jonas treated me to lunch at Bossa Nova. He is too kind. Thank you Jonas for always being so nice to me! I got their pink sauce gnocchi--yum!

Yesterday was awesome because Crystal K. came to visit! We had dinner at my house (California Roll) and then she treated me to Yogurtland on Duarte. We walked around the area and found Cue! I never knew we had a sticker picture place on Baldwin. So we took sticker pictures *^^*

Addicted to Crack

{AHS Potluck: Valentine's Day Edition!}

Last night was our February AHS Potluck. A roaring success! To start us off, I provided guacamole chips and mango salsa. Our entrées were Candace's "cat ears" and Christina's pineapple chicken and cabbage. Christina actually did not attend the majority of the potluck. She dropped off her dishes and had dinner with her family, but then came back later for dessert. A true friend. For dessert, I made cookies and cream cheesecakes. Candace had also brought vanilla and chocolate macarons from Trader Joe's. And Tiffany made Momofuku's Crack Pie.

So the Crack Pie. Wow. It is so good. But also you know the minute you bite into it that every bite is taking off years of your life because it is so unhealthy. But you just can't help it. I guess that's why it's called crack pie, because it's addicting and unhealthy like crack (but you know, probably not as bad as crack). Tiffany read an article in the LA Times about it and was inspired. Apparently it's Jay Leno's favourite pie and sells for $40 each! Isn't that ridiculous? But it is addicting...

This whole week has been about food. And TV. And, sadly enough, stomach pains. They plagued me all Monday and Tuesday. But that did not prevent me from going shopping at the mall with my mum on Monday. Bought some clothes and ate Hot Dog on a Stick. I actually ended up taking a nap on Monday because I felt so horrible (thank goodness we didn't have work!). On Tuesday I managed to survive work even though I still felt bad but on Thursday I got a lot of free food at work. Jonas was nice and bought me a breakfast burrito in the morning and then during the day we had our All-Hands Meeting. Where we got catered food: "Cajun" food and Ben & Jerry's cookie dough ice cream. Which I got seconds of.

Today was Grace's confirmation! Congratulations Grace! ♥

And in addition to all the TV I've watched this week, I watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs today. Not a bad movie.

Grace is 25!

Not only is today Valentine's Day and Lunar New Year, but it is also Grace's birthday! We went to Frida today (at the Americana) after church for her birthday lunch with Williana, Stacy, Jae, Debra, and Grace's friend Orman. I got the Burrito Frida with al pastor (or did I get their Burrito de Carnitas?) and a side of guacamole--not bad. And Grace got a really nice complimentary dessert since it was her birthday!

{Happy Birthday Grace!}

It has been a crazy weekend. After work on Friday I rushed home so that my mum and I could go to Palm Springs. I ate McD's in the car to save on time and we went to the Desert Isle of Palm Springs Resort. It's very nice! I managed to watch the latter half of the Winter Olympics. Yesterday, we went to the Riverside County Fair and Date Festival, which was why we had gone to Palm Springs in the first place. I had only gone to the Date Festival once, when I was a child, so this was exciting. Until we got there. It was so disappointing. It was mostly a county fair and a tiny bit date festival, which was sad. I tried a date shake and did not like it. But we bought two boxes of dates, so that was nice for my mum. I borrowed a copy of Mary Poppins from the front desk--I had been itching to watch the movie after seeing the musical. It was awesome. I forgot how much I loved the movie! Good times. We came back to LA this morning, so it's been a busy weekend.

Last weekend was also busy. On Saturday, as I had blogged before, I watched Mary Poppins. On Sunday, my mum and I went to Glendale Galleria after church. We shared a burrito from La Salsa--it was very huge and filling! And then I actually went shopping--successfully! Bought a jacket from Banana Republic on sale, made a purchase at VS Pink, and bought a nice versatile bag from Target for only $20!

Monday was pretty crazy because I worked OT until 9PM. Which meant that I was coughing a lot on Tuesday. Luckily the rest of the week was pretty calm. Worked, watched TV, same old same old. Now it's time for me to go and watch some more TV!

I would also like to point out that yesterday was Annabel's fourth birthday. She is getting so big. Happy belated birthday love!

Mary Poppins

I went to see Mary Poppins tonight! It's playing at the Ahmanson Theatre but tomorrow is the last night. I normally prefer to go on closing night, but the original plan had been to go with Tasha. Except I'm sick :( And Tasha's immune system is weak, so she decided to be practical and stay far away from me. So I went with Jinwon. I love Mary Poppins so I was really excited for the performance tonight. It was weird, however, because they totally made up some parts. And those parts were a bit o.O if you know what I mean. But the scene with the chimney sweeps tap dancing was AWESOME. The actor playing Bert (Gavin Lee) even walked up the side to the ceiling and then tap danced on the ceiling upside down! And it was cool to see Mary Poppins' last exit take her out over the audience. Apart from the scenes and songs that were not in the movie I grew up with, I enjoyed this performance.

I haven't been able to do much the past couple of days since I got sick. I started getting sick with a sore throat and cough on Wednesday and on Thursday I was completely sick. I had a bodyache, a runny nose, and a cough that would not go away. Yesterday was especially horrible. I finally couldn't handle it anymore and asked my (new!) boss if I could leave at 4PM. I still didn't get home until 6PM, but it was still better than trying to survive at the office. Thankfully, since I pretty much slept all day today, I wasn't too horrible at the performance.

Before I got sick however, I made sure to eat a lot! On Sunday I met up with Annie, Diana, Jessica, Jinwon and Williana at Chado for lunch. I got my usual: two sandwiches with salad and a scone with clotted cream. Delicious and filling! Hung out with Jinwon afterwards and later I watched Crank: High Voltage. On Monday RH came by the office and I helped him with finishing up papers and his expense report. And then on Tuesday I had my date with Christina! We went to RockSugar for dineLA and then I slept over. It also served as a chance for me to clear out the remainder of my stuff. But I think that's also when I got sick since I stupidly stayed in a short sleeve t-shirt for most of the night at her apartment. Tsk tsk me. But hopefully I will get better soon...

Winter X Games 2010

As you all know, I am a huge fan of the X Games. But for some reason, I almost never watch the Winter X Games. I don't know why. But that is the case. And so, of course, I missed it again this year. But I don't know if it's because of the Winter Olympics coming up, but someone at PopWatch blogged about it! Well, about one event in particular, and I thought it was awesome so I wanted to share it as well.

Shaun White won SuperPipe Gold.

What is so exciting about that, you ask? It is, after all, his third straight one. Should we even be surprised? No.

But he did a Double McTwist 1260! After literally slamming his face into the lip of the pipe attempting it in practice (that seriously looked really painful). And he has the Olympics in two weeks! So I think it was awesome that he tried it again and pulled it off.

Can't wait to watch the Winter Olympics!
